# SAP Read Cost Centers

> Reads cost center master data in a controlling area, returning the profit center, company code, functional area, validity and name in the configured language.

Reads cost center master data from `API_COSTCENTER_SRV` (`A_CostCenter`, expanding `to_Text`). Display name **"SAP Read Cost Centers"**. Off by default.

## Authentication and enablement

Requires a workspace SAP integration. Connection fields are injected. Enable the tool and bind the integration.

## Language

`language` is a configured-tool binding (not an LLM argument), defaulting to **EN**; the tool picks that language's text from `to_Text`.

## Inputs

* `controlling_area` (required) — e.g. `A000`.
* `cost_centers` (optional) — list of specific cost center IDs.
* `company_code` (optional) — e.g. `1010`.
* `max_results` (optional) — default 100, capped at 100; a capped read adds a truncation note so "not in the list" is not read as "does not exist".

The structured result can be stored as a task variable (`store_result_as_variable`, a configured-tool binding, on by default) so an agent can pass it to the next tool as `${VAR_N}` instead of re-typing rows.

## Output

`structuredContent.cost_centers` summarises each (`cost_center`, `name`, `profit_center`, `company_code`); `structuredContent.data` carries the full response. The derived **profit center** is how the posting tool assigns the credit line. `IsError` is set on any failure.

## Validation Status

Provisional — verified live against s4h-2022 (2026-10-13). Not yet validated against a customer production connection.

## Errors

Missing integration, an empty `controlling_area`, or an SAP error return `IsError: true` with the SAP message.
